awakening

hellooo people... ohohohohoh hello indeed. DISCLAIMER: for a better, more detailed, more civilised post of the concert, refer to Qabir's blog. This post, is so full of adrenaline that my computer screen looks blurry. ALSO, this post is gonna be a freaking long one. So i suggest if u really wanna read it, sit down, put a song on (switchfoot preferably) and just read slowly. Thankyou.

im actually so freaking pumped up for this post. i so dont wanna miss anything out or write anything wrong or do this post injustice. get ready for a big loada band-boy-fan.. stuf.. yea..

SWITCHFOOT
WAS AWESOME.

YOU
HAVE
NO
IDEA

it was soo good i really just forgot the screw ups that happened that same day before the concert.. and everything else that has been troubling me this whole time. it was really, really something i needed to just escape it all. but before i go any further i wanna just state a few things before u start thinking i am a crazy mindless fanboy.. im not. im a very enthusiastic fanboy.. lol.. lemme explain why.

  • until now, ive always known switchfoot as switchfoot. i only know the lead singer is jon foreman and his brother, tim foreman, plays the bass. the others? i dont know. to me, the band is what made the impact. not them as individuals.
  • i love their songs for the lyrics and the message they put across. they don't sing about nonsensical love, how hot they are, how they got lucky, or anything else that is totally brainless. They are easily the only band that has gone double platinum without a single mushy lovey dovey song and they have my ultimate respect for that. Tho, their first few albums (that didnt really make it big in mainstream) had one or two of those kinda songs. but i prefer the ones that didnt.
and i'll save the rest of my explanations as i continue typing the post.. haha.

~~~~~~~~~
the concert was just awesome. it was everything and more than i expected and surpassed what i cud even dream they cud have been like.
watching them perform had to be the most amazing thing i have ever seen. every note was spot on. every beat, every rendition, every song was perfectly placed in their routine.
even their pose during their song "American Dream" was crack.. haha
man.. words have no ability to explain what it was. it was just crazy. the best 123 bux ive ever spent. it was really so much for me. i mean, i love music. even more if its a band playing songs, songs with good lyrics (and i mean good. i hate stupid shallow songs).. and the best bonus wud be if the music's christian influenced.
and that's exactly what switchfoot is.
they are by far the best christian band in mainstream. ive said it before and i'll say it again. take the time to listen to their songs and what the lyrics say, and u'll see jon foreman is more than just any other song writer.
taking back sunday has lost their place in my hall of fame.
im sorry... lol..
i think i may or may not understand why ppl are moved to tears at concerts. kuz i was dam right tearing thru a few songs. and im saying this at the risk of screwing my already non-existant self pride.
i know what it means to be performing in front of a crowd, and seriously, i cud feel the gratitude that switchfoot felt while they were playing for us. we're one heck of a supportive crowd i tell you. super jakun, but supportive.
after years on end, i finally get to see one of THE bands ive always supported. but dun get me wrong. switchfoot doesnt have booty shaking videos, bling, sweet cars or outfits, or do they idolize themselves. theyre just them. just their guitars and drums and keyboards. and just their songs. i wasnt shouting my ass off for them cause i read abt all the gossip about them and who they love and what they did last summer. i was shouting kuz they're what i think a band shud be. and well, they have zero gossip about them fyi. haha.. and that's another reason why they're awesome.
so no, i do not go gaga and squeal at the sight of them. sure, i wud be shocked and i wud wanna get their autographs like any normal fan wud if i saw them on the street, but that wud just be that. switchfoot is awesome to me kuz their a superb inspiration. and that cud sum up the whole concert.
oh yeah.. the concert.. lol...
switchfoot played songs from almost all their albums, opening with Oh! Gravity. what happened in between the starting and the end is a total blur of bliss for me. haha.. i really can not recall the order of the songs that were played, but i do remember which ones they did.
yeah that's how much i was enjoying myself.
they were freaking awesome. they did an improvised, power packed medley that blew my mind. seriously. they played so well and in such a way, u cud nvr tell what song was coming next til the last second and u'd be screaming ur ass off the minute it clicked in ur head that he wasnt gonna be playing 24 or let your love be strong.. but dare you to move.
u thought they were playing meant to live, but nooo.. they blew Oh Gravity into ur ears the second we were getting ourselves set for the 1st verse of meant to live.
oohhh my goshhh laaa... it wasntttt rightt.. itt wasss nottt righttttttt
wooot
when they played This Is Your Life, i really cudnt help it but let the streams of heaven flow.. from my eyes, thankyou very much.. that song meant so much to me.. (its the song that used to play on my old blog til the player broke) and well, from then on, the state of my tear ducts became very the fragile. haha..
not only that, Jon said really meaningful things in between and during the songs that got to me.. and probably everyone else.. not the stupid "MALAYSIA ARE U READY TO ROCKKK" or " I CANT HEARR YOUU SCREAMMM"
he didnt spout an ounce of that crap.
instead, he spoke of materialism in the world, how we're forgetting ourselves, how we shud live for things bigger than life. man.. u have no idea...
the way they improvised and played each song was out of this world. keeping all of us jumping our butts off. my adrenaline was pumping on overtime and it seemed like it wud keep pumping forever.
their passion for their music, their "aura".. their presence on stage was seriously just flowing out into the crowd. it was indescribable. the feeling of just being there was nothing i can ever explain. it was just.. so.. wow. it was a rock show of a life time.
the crowd was awesome as well. it was really the last thing i expected. i thought half the people who turned up wud probably know one or two songs and were probably just there for the kicks of going to a concert.
EVERYONE sang along to EVERY SONG.. just being among them was awesome. i cud just imagine how the band on stage felt hearing us sing back to them. that too was something that got to me kuz i cud really see how happy those guys were on stage and how grateful they were. it was priceless for them and for us fans.
they practically took every song they wrote, and just made it a million freaking times better. they got the crowd going. they had stage presence of god-like proportions. they connected with us. and i feel, thats the most important thing any band cud ever do.
yup, i shook all their hands and i have a signed poster.
they were extremely cheerful shaking the hands of almost 3 thousand ( i think ) sweaty msian fans. and my gosh.. they are my heroes i swear.
if uve made it this far on my post, i salute you. ur my hero too. lol
really, i could keep going on forever about the concert. it was just a new breath of life for me. switchfoot was all the inspiration i needed. really. but i think i shud spare the lives of you remaining readers and stop here.
for those who didnt go for switchfoot, you really have no idea what u missed. the atmosphere was smothering. rich with raw emotion and life in music.
my gosh la. the hype of it still hasnt worn off for me. and i dont think it will for a very long time.
id give anything to go back and do it again.. so ladies and gentlemen.. i present you..
switchfoot
