if u just blink once,
the world jumps a step
you get caught off your guard,
and alone is all you're left.


i just blink once,
the sun sets and rises
and takes its place before,
at the same spot, leaving the horizon


just stand here in my same spot,
growing in these shoes now torn.
thru life's long and winding roads,
thru a guitar's overplayed songs


knew i what happened before it did,
wouldnt i have turned away
could i have been what i could have,
could today been a better day


i breathe deep and long,
and let out heavy and whole sighs.
of days long passed,
of unused golden tries.


would we all take a step back,
or maybe rewrite our history
and reread a few pages of our life,
are we who we want to be?


do we wish things were different
do we wish things were the same
do we wish things were what it could have been
do we have ourselves to blame


anything is something
anything could have been another
another could have been our saving grace
our saving grace could have been our forever


to rise from this death
learn from what we've laid down
to learn how to pick up where things were left off
see how we come around


get off our feet
our dirty floors are now calling
the hidden secrets in our closet
the scratch marks on the walls
